The String Family
The Spring  Quartet was formed in 1995 when the family was approached
by someone wanting string music at their wedding. Their success led directly to an engagement  to play at the Sponsors’ Dinner of the World Transplant Games
at which Dr Christian Barnard, the Heart Transplant pioneer, led a standing
ovation for the Quartet  during the first course of the meal!

Since then they have played for many weddings and corporate functions including
Manchester’s World Track Cycling Championships at the then new Velodrome.
They have frequently  been requested to perform at  Civic functions in Manchester and Stockport and played for the wedding of one of Elton John’s musicians.
They had a long association with Indian musicians, including several innovative
projects with Indian composer Rakesh Joshi which saw them appearing at Leeds
and Brent Town Halls in Millennium celebrations and later in the Lowry Theatre
as part of the Milapfest, an Arts Council sponsored Festival of Asian Arts.

In June 2001, as part of the Commonwealth Games 2002 buildup, they were
invited to Barbados to help in the foundation of a string-teaching project in
schools. They also gave a series of formal and informal concerts, culminating in
a lunchtime concert at the Frank Colymore Hall in Bridgetown.

They have given concerts in churches and community venues, including one at
Birmingham  Cathedral where they also accompanied a performance of the
Schubert Mass in G
